How a site refresh works

2–4 weeks, depending on the size of the site.

See the process in detail →

01 · Week 1

We look at your site

A call and a look at your site: what works, what confuses, what should stay.

  • A call or written answers
  • A look at your site
  • A short brief

02 · Week 1

You approve the sheet

One sheet: what changes, what stays, and the weeks. We do not start drawing until you say yes.

  • What stays, what changes
  • Dates on one sheet
  • Yes to the sheet

03 · Week 2

We redraw it

Type, colour and the key pages are redrawn with your content. Your logo is tidied up, not replaced.

  • Type and colour
  • Desktop and phone
  • Two rounds of changes

04 · Week 2

We build it

The refreshed pages are built, and every old address redirects to its new page.

  • Preview every Friday
  • Old addresses redirect
  • Your panel is set up

05 · Week 3

We launch it

The refreshed site goes live on the same domain. Old addresses work, and Search Console is checked.

  • On the same domain
  • Search Console check
  • A video on editing

06 · After launch

We look after it

After launch the site stays fast, safe and current. What you need next gets added.

  • Updates and backups
  • Small changes
  • Monthly, stop any time

Frequently asked questions

Not answered here? Ask Paf or tell us about your project.

What does Paftane do in a site refresh?

Paftane refreshes the site you already have: type, colour and the key pages are redrawn, your logo is tidied up, and your old addresses redirect to the new pages. Your name and your domain stay the same. It takes 2–4 weeks, depending on the size of the site; once we have looked at your site, a written quote sets the price.

How much does a site refresh cost?

A site refresh depends on what you have. First we look at your site; the written quote you get in 2 working days sets the number. If only one section needs a refresh, Sprint starts at $600 and takes 1 week.

Packages and prices →
How long does a site refresh take?

2–4 weeks, depending on the size of the site. Through design and build a preview link arrives every Friday; your dates are on your first sheet.

What happens to my old addresses and my place on Google?

Old addresses redirect to the new pages with a 301, so Google keeps what it found. In Ortac Global’s refresh, all 138 addresses of the old site were opened on the new one before the switch; 33 old blog posts that would have landed on an empty page were redirected to the closest new page.

The Ortac Global case →
Will we lose our logo?

No. We redraw the mark you have so it reads cleanly on screen. A brand-new logo is not part of a site refresh.

How many revisions do I get?

Two rounds at each stage: on the sheet, on the design and on the build. Small fixes after launch are part of care.

Who owns the design and the code?

You do, once the project is paid. The domain, the hosting account, the code and the content are in your name from day one.

Who is a site refresh not right for?

If you want a brand-new name or logo, that is not a refresh. If your site needs new features rather than a new look, Website is the better start. We do not do print or packaging.
